Carencro High School Weekly Bulletin

September 8 - 15, 2008

Teacher of the Year: Linda Gibson

“Students will respect all people, including themselves, and all property, including their own, at all times.”

I do hope this finds everyone well and their life returning to normal.  Many of you, like me, are still without power and are coping the best way possible with our adverse situation.  Stay safe and if at all possible, return to school Monday.

September Faculty Meeting:  The monthly full hour meeting will be Monday, September 22nd at 2:30 p.m. in the Little Theater.

Freshman Elections:  Encourage freshman students who are running for office to campaign this week.  Elections will be conducted on Wednesday, September 10th during the TAA activity.  All freshman homerooms will report to the boys’ gym for speeches and voting will occur in the classroom immediately following the speeches.

Open House:  Open house will be rescheduled to a later date.  The dates of our feeder schools’ open hose will have to be identified before rescheduling.

Extended Library Hours:  Please announce to students that the library will remain open until 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for students to conduct research, check out books or read.

Notice Regarding Food Sales During School Time:  Teachers/Sponsors/Coaches who are conducting fund raising activities involving edible items are to instruct the students they are not to sell during school time.  Sponsors may distribute items to students during the school day but cannot sell for consumption except during the last ten minutes of each lunch shift.  Sponsors who are in violation of this procedure could face disciplinary action.  This includes concessions, meat sticks, chips, cookies, suckers, and candy related items.

Department Chairpeople:  If you have not already done so, please send your monthly meeting dates to Ms. Rath.

Dress Code Policy:  Teachers and all staff are to enforce the dress code policy.  Uniform polo shirt must be red, white, or navy and cannot have more than four buttons, capped sleeves or decorative trim, emblems, or logos.  Undershirts can only be red, white and navy.  The shorts cannot be oversized or sagging.  They can not extend below the knee.  Shorts with the side cell pocket are not uniform shorts.  This pocket can be stitched closed.  Shirts must be tucked in at all times.  The uniform bottom may be black, khaki, or navy.

Check the students’ dress as they enter the classroom or at the start of the class.  Violations to the dress code policy will result in a disciplinary action and a phone call home.  Complete the dress code violation form to include the name, grade, date, time, violation, and sign the form.  Give the student the pink copy.  Turn in the white and yellow to the office.  The action taken and administrator’s signature will be completed and the yellow copy returned to the staff member.  The assistant principal will address the violation and the student’s guardian will be called regarding the violation.  The assistant principal or the discipline clerk will follow up to verify the student attended the assigned Behavior Clinic or Discipline Center assignment.
